If your company is a large- or small-quantity generator of hazardous waste under RCRA there are periodic safety training requirements required to stay in compliance with EPA and DOT regulations.

RCRA

Under 40 CFR 265.16 of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, the EPA requires that all facility personnel responsible for the management of hazardous waste be trained in the procedures relevant to the positions in which they are employed. At a minimum, the training program must be designed to ensure that facility personnel are able to respond effectively to emergencies by familiarizing them with emergency procedures, emergency equipment, and emergency systems as well as other response operations. This training should be performed prior to assignment of hazardous waste duties, and annually thereafter.

PSARA recognizes that RCRA training should encompass enough education to ensure that all employees can safely and properly identify and handle hazardous waste and are likewise able to address requirements for storage, packaging, and shipment in a competent manner. PSARA helps organizations meet these requirements by training employees to:

Generator Status Requirements
Waste Definition/Characterization
Waste Accumulation/Container Inspection
Labeling/Marking Requirements
Manifests/Recordkeeping
Contingency Plans

This training can be cost-effectively combined with the periodic DOT training requirements for shippers of hazardous waste and OSHA’s hazard communication requirements to provide a cost-effective and time-sensitive solution to your training needs. As always, our training programs can be customized to the needs of your facility and your employees.
