At a workshop on OSHA Inspections this
week, OSHA Area Director Richard Gilgrist, Cincinnati, shared
how OSHA intends to inspect for and cite Ergonomics Hazards.
Mr. Gilgrist confirmed that under the current
administration, there would be no Ergonomics Standard.
Using the four-pronged approach outlined by OSHA, they
will identify hazards, and will cite employers under the
General Duty Clause who fail to address ergonomic hazards in
conformance with Industry Guidelines and standard industry
practice.
OSHA also provided information about the
Top 15 General Industry Standards Cited by OSHA in the Fiscal
Year 2002. The
