PSARA Cleaning Up Ohio - One Mile at a Time

For the past four years, PSARA Technologies has participated in Ohio's Adopt-A-Highway Program. As part of this initiative, PSARA is responsible for periodically picking up the litter along a two-mile stretch of Interstate 71.

The most recent cleanup event took place on Saturday, May 18, 2002, when a group of dedicated individuals met at the office and carpooled up to mile marker 24. For those of you familiar with Cincinnati, this is the stretch of highway alongside the Kings Island Amusement Park.

Wearing orange and yellow safety vests, PSARA personnel picked up litter (some of it quite interesting) for several hours along the northbound side of the highway. "When we were finished and looked back at the black trash bags that lined the highway, I was really amazed at how much trash we were able to pick up," said PSARA employee Jason Van Dyke. The crew plans to return to the site sometime in the month of June to complete litter collection on the southbound side of the highway.

The Ohio Department of Transportation collects more than 200,000 bags of trash from our highways each year. By participating in Adopt-A-Highway, volunteers are able to save the state tax dollars while keeping Ohio highways a pleasant place to drive.
