PSARA
has instructors authorized by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration
(OSHA) to offer comprehensive safety and health training to the construction
industry. Companies, general contractors, and subcontractors who participate
attain a tangible and measurable edge in demonstrating to OSHA inspectors
that their jobsites are operated under an effective safety program. Participants
who complete the course will receive cards from OSHA to attest to their involvement
in this influential preparatory program.

PSARA provides both
the 10- and 30-hour programs to give construction managers, superintendents,
and foremen an overview of federal standards critical to safety and
health on their projects. The curriculum is targeted at nurturing a workable
familiarity with essential compliance elements common on many construction
sites. Our instructors convey this knowledge through multimedia lecture
sessions, challenging interactive workshops, pertinent hands-on exercises,
and insightful review sessions.
Topical components of
the 30-hour program correspond to pertinent subparts
of the OSHA Safety and Health Regulations for Construction, Part 1926. The
program involves the students in regulatory issues fundamental to worker
safety, such as General Safety and Health Provisions, and Occupational Health
and Environmental Controls. Other key areas taught during the course include:
|
- Fall Protection
- Stairways and Ladders
- Hand and Power Tools
- Fire Protection and
Prevention
- Cranes, Derricks,
and Hoists
- Scaffolding
|
- Material Handling
and Storage
- Electrical
- Welding and Cutting
- Excavations
- Personal Protective
Equipment
- Steel Erection

The program also provides students
with an understanding of OSHA's perspective regarding the concepts
of establishing and maintaining an effective safety program, conducting
jobsite inspections, issuing citations, and negotiating penalties. This
overview is essential for preparing superintendents and managers to establish
safe and compliant construction sites and successfully interact with their
regulators.
PSARA uses only its senior
instructors in presenting the programs. At least one OSHA-authorized
trainer is involved and available at all times throughout each course. Because
our instructors have an array of project management, construction site safety
supervision, and compliance inspection experience, they convey technical
and regulatory subject matter to the students that integrates their practical
experiences. This blend enables them to relate "real-world" solutions to
the problems faced when attempting to satisfy specific safety compliance
objectives.
