US EPA initiates legal action against 17 facilities for SPCC violations.  Fines range from $8,000.00 to $47,000.00 per facility.  Click here for official US EPA press release.

July 2003:
The Steel Tank Institute issues Standard SP001-03 for the inspection of shop-made aboveground storage tanks.  The standard has been accepted by the US EPA for the periodic inspection of smaller tanks at SPCC-regulated facilities.
